0836 ADVANCED CHILD DEVELOPMENT
Semester, 1 credit
Prerequisite: Child Development and Parenting 31
The physical, social, emotional, intellectual, and moral aspects of child development are studied in this course. It includes instruction on caring for a newborn and an infant, as well as the growth and development of children, ages one through five. Fieldtrips are taken to area day care centers and preschools. Small children are brought into the classroom for observation as each age group is discussed. Students take home a computerized “Baby Think It Over” to simulate parenthood. This class is suggested for anyone considering a child-related career or those interested in being a good parent.
