0826   ADULT ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES 21 (CONSUMER EDUCATION)

This is a consumer education course.  The class provides the information needed for adulthood in our ever-changing society.  The focus is on becoming an independent, contributing and responsible member of our community.  Topics include:  (1) living independently and as a family, (2) values, goals, choices, (3) consumer rights and responsibilities, (4) nutrition and wellness, (5) clothing, (6) housing, (7) budgeting and credit, (8) career exploration and employment skills,  (9) insurance, (10) buying and maintaining a car, (11) environment and citizenship education and (12) using technology – hands on computer experiences, case studies, guest speakers, and

videos.  Students will produce a commercial, complete a check writing activity and write a résumé.
