Semester, 1 credit
Prerequisite: None
Selecting and planning living environments to meet the needs and wants of individuals is important. Students analyze the basic fundamentals of judging values when one buys, builds or rents a home. Types of architecture or housing styles, advantages and disadvantages of a floor plan and arrangements of work areas are studied. The factors of home furnishings will be stressed. Applying art elements and principles in selecting and arranging home furnishings and backgrounds, appreciating and using color in the home, planning window treatments, floor coverings and wall treatments, and learning about furniture styles and arrangements are all included in this course. Students will draw a floor plan, as well as design and decorate living spaces.
