  • Cap and Gown Orders

For decades, New Castle High School has had an excellent relationship with Jostens. Caps and gowns are REQUIRED for the commencement ceremony. Seniors may, however, wish to purchase some of the many accessories and "extras" made available by Jostens. It is also permissible for students to use caps and gowns belonging to past graduates, provided the items are in excellent shape and the color matches exactly.

On Tuesday, January 23, 2018, Jostens will be here during lunch.

Here is the contact information for Jostens in case you have any questions about your order or payments:

    Joy, Jeff, & Jason Pope
    5220 N. Sugar Hills Drive
    Greenfield, IN  46140
    Phone: 317-326-2782
    Fax: 317-326-2782

Alternatively, you may wish to visit directly if you wish to order packages. Be sure to select New Castle High School.

Although Mr. Thurston is happy to help parents and students in as much as he possibly can, he is not a Jostens employee or agent, and unfortunately does not have access to customer information regarding the status of orders, amounts paid, or balances due. For Jostens concerns, it is best to speak with Jostens representatives directly.

  • Achievement Day

    Friday, September 29, 2017

Achievement Day is an important annual convocation dating back to the 1960s which is intended to celebrate the academic achievements of our students and to inspire scholastic success for the school year. Many important guests and members of the community are in attendance, including New Castle alumni.

New Castle High School hosted the 58th Annual Achievement Day Program on September 29, at 1:45 pm. The 2017 program featured Dr. Jennifer McCormick as the honored speaker. Dr. McCormick graduated from New Castle in 1987. She was elected as the Indiana State Superintendent of Public Education in November of 2016. She will address the New Castle student body, faculty/staff, and honored guests during the program in Bundy Auditorium. Dr. McCormick attended Purdue University and graduated in 1993, with a Bachelor in Education. She earned a Masters in Special Education in 1999, and a Doctorate Degree from Indiana State in 2011. During her teaching career she taught both special education and language arts. She became an elementary principal in 2004, and was named Yorktown’s Assistant Superintendent in 2007. In 2010, she became Superintendent of Yorktown Community Schools and held the position until her election in 2016.

The Achievement Day program honors students for strong academic achievement with a school crest for earning a 3.666 GPA or higher for four or more semesters. Students with six semesters of a 4.0 GPA receive an academic honor ring. The 2017 program was extra special this year as it kicked off Homecoming 2017.
