SPORTS

The boys varsity soccer team suffered a 1-0 loss last night to Yorktown.  Despite controlling possession of the match in large portions of the game Yorktown was able to convert off of a throw in.  New Castle fought hard the entire match was but was unable to convert on the offensive opportunities.  Zach Millikan had 5 saves in net.  New Castle is now 4-2-1 and plays at home on Thursday against Muncie Burris.

The girls varsity soccer won an exciting game 5-3 after falling behind early 2-0.  Courtney Denney had 4 goals and Anna Smith had 1 goal.  Emily Smith had 3 assists, Sam Leyes had 1 assist, and Ally Garrett had 1 assist.  Sara Leyes had 12 saves in goal.  The varsity is now 5-2 for the season.

The girls JV soccer team also won.  The score was 6-1.  Alexus Preble had 2 goals and 2 assists. Brea Kuzak, Kirstin Surber, Amanda Schoettmer, and Katie Larson each had 1 goal.  The JV is now 3-1 on the season.

The boys jv soccer team went down to defeat 1-0 at the hands of the Yorktown Tigers. Yorktown went ahead late in the game and withstood a furious rally that was put together by the Trojans. The Trojans attack went all out in the closing minutes of the second half, but was unlucky as they failed to connect on their numerous shot attempts. The boys are back in action on Thursday, at home, as they take on the Owls of Muncie Burris.
